DUO: Extension: User can add a device - Self Service

If you find that DUO is prompting your Cellphone for authentication and you wish to use an extension instead, the following will allow you to do so. If you don’t have a cellphone with the DUO App installed, you can contact the helpdesk and they can help get you set up with the proper specification of your extension as a method of confirming your identity.

Click on Settings

Click on My settings and devices

Confirm it’s you

Click on “Call-me”, “push” or “passcode”

This will show you your current settings and devices

We can bring up settings again, if you “need help”, explanation of “what is this”,  “add a new device” or back to “My settings and Devices”.

“Add a new device” allows you to add more devices to be used in authentication

Click on “Add a New Device”

Let’s go through adding an extension (like your desk Phone or WebEx extension)

Click on “Landline”

Click “Continue”

For GRHC extensions, we use the main phone number as the first piece – for either your deskphone or WebEx Extension (602-528-1200)

For me, in this example, My deskphone extension is 1273. I could also put in my Webex Extension of 2779. – or both, I’d just need to set up a separate device using these same methods.

This information looks correct. Click “Continue”

We can “continue to login”

Selecting the pulldown for device we can see the device we just added.

This will allow you to select the Landline number for use in authenticating your login request.

(DUO calls you and asks for you to press 1 to confirm)

As always, you can contact the IT helpdesk for further help in getting your DUO to work.
